Commission about Danish poet Inger Christensen

Kunsthal Vejle has invited Jonna Pedersen to create a site-specific outdoor work about the Danish poet Inger Christensen. The artist was inspired by a guided tour of Inger Christensen's poet route in Vejle. The work refers to the section 3 of Inger Christensen's poet route The legs think of themselves at Spinderihallerne, Spinderigade 11, Vejle.

Jonna Pedersen: In my practice, I use shoes as symbols of existence and standing by who you are. With her art, Inger Christensen has greatly contributed to our common life and existence, and stood by who she was. The author came from the province, and I experience her as a wooden shoe woman, with her feet firmly planted on the ground, but with thoughts in eternal movement and vision. Shoes can take you further and out into the world, just like Inger Christensen's art, which developed, her travels into the world and her writing, which is known around the globe.

Nietzsche used the expression "the will to power" about people who develop and search beyond their own limits. Inger Christensen used language in a special way. It was completely specific to her. DET (It) as a word refers to the collection of poems of the same title and precisely "that" she could.

I have symbolized Inger Christensen as a writer by Nuser at her typewriter, here sitting on top of a stack of her publications. I often use comic strips in my works to add humor. Inger Christensen herself had an unpretentious and wry sense of humour. The work also contains references to the poem "De otte morgener" from the poetry collection DET 1969, from which I have chosen in the speech bubble the phrase "What you gave my thoughts is the presence of absence" combined with "a state that awaits". By combining the two sentences, a new meaning arises from the words, which can be perceived as a statement about what Inger Christensen gave us.

STEDSSPECIFIK Udsmykning om Inger christensen

Jonna Pedersen: I min praksis bruger jeg sko som symboler på eksistens, og at stå ved den man er. Inger Christensen har med sin kunst i høj grad bidraget til vores fælles liv og eksistens, og stod ved den, hun var. Forfatteren kom fra provinsen, og jeg oplever hende som træsko kvinde, med benene solidt plantet på jorden, men med tanker i evig bevægelse og udsyn. Sko kan føre én videre og ud i verden, ligesom Inger Christensens kunst, der udviklede sig, hendes rejser ud i verden samt forfatterskabet, der er kendt på hele kloden.

Nietzsche brugte udtrykket "viljen til magt" om mennesker, der udvikler sig og søger ud over egne grænser. Inger Christensen brugte sproget på en særlig måde. Det var helt specifikt for hende. ”Det” som ord refererer til digtsamlingen med samme titel og netop ”det” hun kunne.

Inger Christensen som forfatter har jeg symboliseret ved Nuser ved sin skrivemaskine, her siddende ovenpå en stak af hendes udgivelser. Jeg anvender ofte tegneseriestriber i mine værker for at få humoren med. Inger Christensen havde selv en uhøjtidelig og skæv humor. Værket indeholder også referencer til digtet ”De otte morgener” fra digtsamlingen DET 1969, hvorfra jeg i taleboblen har jeg valgt sætningen ”Hvad du gav mine tanker er fraværets nærvær” kombineret med ”en tilstand der venter”. Ved at kombinere de to sætninger, opstår en ny betydning af ordene, der kan opfattes som et statement om, hvad Inger Christensen gav os.
